A bunch of deer came out around 1:30 and attacked our cedar trees as if they were really hungry. I recall many years ago some expert claimed deer would only eat cedar if they were starving but that is not true. They will eat cedar in cold months regardless of other available food sources.

When I left around 6:30 this morning to go to diner, there were 3 deer laying beside driveway where I had plowed back and grass was showing. Have not seen any other deer out here today.....yet.
They have been steady eating every day prior, out back where I plowed snow away in lawn, and obviously some landscaping as well.
Going to see what the overnight rain does to the 3" of "new" snow we have....so far. I may plow a little more for them tomorrow before this freezes solid.

We have a huge rhododendron and the deer never bothered it for close to 20 years. Last winter they ate half of it when we were in Fla.

Seems like they know something is up with the weather. We've had deer in the lawn all day, feeding steady, except for about an hour this morning.
