Been pretty quiet in here, figured I would post a thing or two.. I love waterfowl hunting, and especially love shooting ducks and getting them mounted, not sure why, just what I like. Currently have about 20 birds done. Very hard being a PA duck hunter, usually just woodies, mallards, and blacks, and a occosional teal. I have been blesssed to have been able to go on a few journeys to get some different ducks. Saskatewan in 2004, hunted De. pretty hard during the Canada goose closure in the 90's, and make annual trips to the eastern shore for either sea ducks or diver ducks. I always had a few "trophy" ducks on my list, many I have gotten, like my Canvasbacks(took me 6 years hunting the eastern shore before I go one), Shoveler, old squal, etc. But there was always 2 that eluded me, and had actually never even seen in the wild, during the open season, a pintail and a redhead. Last season, a friend invited me to Md. to hunt for 2 days. The results of the hunt were not the greatest by some people's standards, between 4 of us, we only shot 10 ducks the first day, and pretty much couldn't hunt the second becasue of rough weather(safety issues). But for me, it was one of the most incredible days I have ever had. Not only did I kill my drake pintail and my drake redhead, I also shot a drake wigeon as a huge bonus. 3 drake ducks, that I have never shot before, all in one day?? I really could not have asked for anything more. The day we shot them: mounts: not in new permanent home yet...

Quite a life list! Few years back I was in Goosehunter's home admiring all the various duck mounts he had. Never knew there were so many. Nice mounts and nice displays. BTW, just build a bigger den.

Once you get bit by the waterfowl bug, it's hard to get rid of it. I started going to Md. about 11 years ago, just for 2 days a year. This year, I was there from Jan. 12-25th, and still hated to leave...

Dmccoy, that was a big day you had there and the mounts are great.
You should consider coming along to NJ for the Brant & Black Duck you're looking for. Diezel & I would be honored with your presense at the Duck Lodge. Now Dutch on the other hand would have to be real nice if he wants to get an invite. ;D

I may take you up on the NJ offer for the Brant, I have a black in the freezer, waiting for funds to clear to get the black done. But i'm definatlly taking you up on stopping in next time i'm at middle creek. I must admit i'm a little upset you just put my secret goose hotspot all over the internet!!!! Now everyone will want to hunt middle creek, and I won't have anywhere to go, thanks a lot!!

I'm one up on you Dutch!!! I finally got to go on my goose hunt with "goosehunter"!!!!! PLUS got to enter his compound to view all the various mounts(after the mandatory strip search and background check, not sure what that was about). In all honesty, it was a great hunt, with a great guy. I got to show off my expert shooting ability, and he was able to explain to me how he is one of the finer at home gunsmiths in Schoeneck!!!!
We are set on dates for our NJ hunt, and I can't wait.
Thanks again Charlie!!!

Charlie IS a class act and I do enjoy talking with him when I do see him once in a while.

Hey Men! Was a great September Goose Season. Here's a couple pics of Don's hunt. And yes I did have some gun issues but got the old Benelli up and running again. All the issues were of human origin. Guess it was the old man problem instead of old Benelli problems. The NJ Brant hunt is around the corner. Here's hoping Don can hit something this hunt!
