Could be the reason for lack of hunters!! They couldn't figure out when the season was open!! lol

I don’t think I heard more than 6 shots the last 3 days at camp. I had 14 hunters on Saturday, 13 on Sunday, and 5 today. We cut tracks each day but never caught up to any of the.makers. I think my camp was the only ones even doing any drives, along with few hunters. Did pass a group parked along the forest road to my camp on way home today. Hope they did better then we did yesterday when we drove the same area.

I've hunted bear....well....I've sat in a spot all day waiting for a bear to stumble by.
Many years ago I was hunting in Fayette county in a place where bear are frequently seen. I struck up a conversation with a local fellow who told me he's been hunting that piece of mountain for years.
He said he had 5 or 6 trail cams out at least two months before the season and had pics of many bears roaming around. But when it came to the first day...the woods had only a few shots and produced no bear. There had to be 50+ vehicles parked in the public parking...plus lining the road to the public parking....plus one idiot who blocked the open handicapped gate as he arrived well after the sunrise. And there's me at about 11:30 coming down the HC path on my cart....now unable to get out of the woods. (There's a small, very small % of very stupid people. God places them in select places so that we run into them.....and thus believe there are more stupid people out there.. than what is the "real" number. On occasion we happen to run into two or three of these people....and then we project that "everyone" out there is stupid.)
What does occur is the two or three weeks before the season begins you have hunters "scouting" the area.....and you have a lot of scouting being done. Thus spreading a lot of human scent where the rest of the year, very little human scent is spread.
I think the animals are smart enough to link the human scent with danger....and as the season approaches, the bear travel to places where there is less human scent....very thick....very remote places.
Anyway....that's one guys theory.....
