It's cool Allegheny has 2, We've been watching a 300 plus pounder for months out at my club in Washington County. We normally get young transitory bears in the early spring passing through, but I think this one might be a resident.

My in-line is wicked accurate out to 200 yards. They are really no more than a single shot rifle.

Looks like 50 more bears were harvested in 2022 vs 2021 during the Archery, Muzzleloader & Special Season. Won't be surprising if we have another excellent harvest in the upcoming Regular Season.
2021 1186 Harvested 2022 1236 "

My Dad was really into bear hunting with leaving 5 hanging(1 PA, 4 Canada) in his den when he passed on. I never reached Dad's enthusiasm about killing a bear but would like to get just one. I know on our Canadian trips when I was just out of HS....I wouldn't even hunt bear but would fish exception one year did some bear hunting(no luck for me but Dad killed). We went to Quebec renting a small rustic cabin on a lake which came with a small motor boat. I remember the great walleye & pike fishing as it was just yesterday. I've seen all kinda bear over the years but have yet to see one in bear season. Really love getting out in those mountains just in search for one taking it all in!! My Mrs hopes I remain skunked!!

I was hunting in Forest County during "old guy early rifle". I see that there were 26 bears taken.....plus one that I know was not taken as the archery shooter forgot to aim low when the bear is 30 feet below you........sailed it right over it's back!!!
Mebby when I'm taking one of my many, many breaks this week I'll look at how many bears per county square miles are taken. Just a numbers thing.

Hopefully, more hunters will be in the woods where Bear Season overlaps Regular Deer Season and beefs up the kill numbers.

Bear season in...then out.....then in.....then in with only special ray guns.
Then Turkey for WMUs 2C, 2D & 2E:
Oct. 29-Nov. 18; Nov. 23-25
We need to give 'em a brake from the 19th to the 22nd?
