Its on the agenda posted for the upcoming meeting. Statewide ban on any natural attractant. Disease area ban on all attractants including artificial attractants and "indirect" feeding of cervids.
The interesting thing is they are proposing a ban on artificial attractants when there is zero chance of CWD prions being present. Also interesting is a ban on "indirect" feeding of cervids. Well that makes a large percentage of bird feeders illegal. I suspect there will be essentially zero enforcement of that.

Read some where the Statewide Ban proposed(outside CWD Areas) would start in 2023-24 season? Only thing I use is one of those EverCalm Stiks as basically a cover scent when in my blind. Looked for ingredients on it & found none. Never got into those scrape drips etc.

Absolutely. the time to have gotten control of this was long before it got here, and the method would have been to prohibit raising deer as a farm crop and transporting them all over the country.

Or...as my late Uncle once said while driving his vehicle down Pikes Peak.....I knew I should have fixed those brakes before I took this trip........

STATEWIDE BAN ON URINE-BASED DEER ATTRACTANTS FAILS TO ADVANCE
The proposed statewide ban on the use and field possession of urine-based deer attractants and other cervid excretions failed to gain majority support from the Board of Commissioners, meaning it will advance no further toward adoption at this time.
The Board of Commissioners was split 4-4 on whether to move the proposal toward final adoption.
Commissioners Michael Mitrick, Dennis Fredericks, Scott Foradora and Todd Pride voted to preliminarily approve the statewide ban. Commissioners Kristen Schnepp-Giger, Allen Di Marco, Stanley Knick Jr. and Haley Sankey voted against preliminary approval. Commissioner Robert Schwalm was not in attendance.
Commissioner Knick pointed out that, while the proposal failed to move forward, there will be the opportunity to bring it up again in the future.
Many of the commissioners commented on the proposal, and the difficulty with which they arrived at a decision to vote for or against it. While there’s evidence commercially produced urine-based deer attractants might contain Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) prions, making them potentially infectious, the actual risk of such attractants spreading CWD to deer and elk is less clear.

Not to mention the fact that it is somewhat akin to locking the barn door after the horse has been stolen. Most measures taken to contain a disease that is this widespread are not going to be very effective. Add on to this how many hunters have used and would continue to use such things, regardless of whether or not they work. In addition, keep in mind that if these attractants did spread CWD as the theory goes, it would already be statewide. For the record, I don't use any such attractants. I have never found them to be of much use. My son in law does, and he swears by them.

I used them during one season years ago. Had a scent thing (My BIL called 'em "doe tampons") hanging from a tree. Big doe came through the woods directly at that smelly thing....took a big sniff....and took off the other way!! I never used it after that. I find that a good "suction" type grunt call and rattling a few horns during the rut works far better....IMHO

Will I still be allowed to pee in the scrapes I hunt around? I do it all the time, if you're not, guess we're both in trouble.
