I was told by members of the PTA to not make a big deal about the letter of the SH law as it pertains to trapping. However, it's in Title 34, clearly. You simply cannot carry a trap on a Sunday. I guess if that trap is being set for foxes or coyotes, thats an exception, but plenty of possums have been caught in fox traps, set on a Sunday. The law does not distinguish the difference between a fox, coyote, opossum, skunk, raccoon, mink or muskrat trap or set. For you “letter of the law” guys, Laws are not perfectly written, because the people that write them and pass them are the most imperfect of people. That is why officers are afforded discretion in applying the laws.

Also, generally, the day before those Sunday openers, was the beginning of grouse season, and we all know how dog hunters feel about trappers. I have had many traps go missing on the first day of deer season, traps taken or busted apart and foxes stolen out of my traps during small game season and these days the deer, small game, grouse and turkey hunters are lamenting the lack of trappers to control the nest raiders, coyotes and predators of these species, kinda ironic, isn’t it.

YES! The good ol PGC comes thru again and provides new complaint material. And rightfully so! Non resident tags should be capped. In the case of the archery bull, 1 tag.

Out of State and Country hunts (Canada, Mexico) are great experiences for those who can afford (in time and money) to do this. Places like Colorado and Wyoming have large investments in the hunting\fishing sector of their economy....and provide jobs for those not only directly involved in the hunt, but the hotels and service employees of the hotels and restaurant's that also serve those hunters\fisherpeople.
It's give and take.

I sent out a few messages to my local reps and I will be emailing the commissioners soon (not that they care or communicate back these days) about our both illegal and unequitable elk draw.

Don't discount the fact that some of these foreigner "out of Staters" may own property(plus other interests) in PA and possibly be paying more real estate taxes than you or I. I applaud the PGC in getting something as right as right can be.

I applaud the PGC in getting something as right as right can be. I have no problem with non-resident applying and getting drawn. Good for them. What I do have a problem with is the equal odds and/or no caps to the number of tags that can be awarded to a non resident. In other states, DNRs would be burnt down if 35% of archery bull tags went to non residents.................... There is nothing "right" about 35% of bull tags going to non residents in one of our seasons.

Nonresidents only drew 3.2% of Reg Season Bull Tags with 96.8% going to Residents. Late Season Bulls: NR 6.6% & Residents 93.4%. Don't have numbers but possibly a higher percentage of Archery Applicacants came from NR VS R in the pool of applicants as compared to other Bull Tag draws? Plus....how can someone who only buys one KECA Lottery Tag win when another buys 6 and isn't drawn?? Welcome to the Lottery World!!

That should never happen. Yes, it is the lottery world but most states limit the number of non residents that can draw and provide better odds to residents.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with Ridge never being drawn!! Not at all. If I had drawn three times I would still voice concerns with our system. Wrong is wrong and right is right. I may never draw and realize that is a distinct possibility.

remember all those nasty emails you sent to the commissioners? Remember? Not sure who that was directed at, but no commissioner would ever say that I sent them a nasty email.
