It’s been strange around here this spring I’ve only heard the birds sounding off one morning and I’m outside around the farm every morning. Unusual. What’s everyone else hearing?

Usually in the early morning I like the sound of my coffee maker.
But seriously, there is normally a gobbler around my area that sounds off every once in awhile. Haven't heard him yet.

Seems odd that you guys aren't hearing them. We had 4 gobblers with a flock of 20 or so hens yesterday and then 5 gobblers working on two hens on the opposite side of the hill. Only took one picture: Attachments:

Doing their normal thing here but we are further along weather wise. Good gobbling for the most part. I plan to do some scouting tomorrow to keep tabs on some gobblers.

On AM walk 5 deer no gobbling.
On Hike today SGL37 Stephenhouse Rd to the Bat houses at the beaver ponds one deer, one drummer, one dead bear in dump small, one rack buck next to the bear. Saw some turkeys on the ride in and two active Osprey nests both attended to with occupant. Still no gobbling. 4.31 miles on the hike.
In other news had to pick up bird feeder in the yard this morning I figure either an ostrich landed on it or the bear is back didn't actually see what or who the culprit was...

Try cutting down your 3 walks/hikes per day that total 10 hrs, to something a "normal" lazy American male might want to achieve. It's be a start.

I met a guy on my hike 2 years older than me carrying a 30# pack a professional hiker. He was getting in shape for his spring endeavors. We walked together until we got back to my truck then he had another mile to go to his truck. I offered him a ride back knowing full well what his answer would be. He wasn't quitting at his truck he planned to walk twelve miles today and by gum he was going to do it. I felt like the normal lazy American male thank you very much. Besides I know there are no hills on the Eastern shore of Va. there are no rocks, no ground hogs not much snow and too damn hot to enjoy summer which I don't anyway

It's been snowing since I got up this morning still snowing but it's melting faster than coming down now. There was about 1/2 - 3/4" on the walk. Haven't heard the ol boy sound off again. Hope the first gobble of the season isn't the last
I did put out some jelly and 1/2 orange in anticipation of new arrivals soon. Buddy in Va has 3 purple martin houses all active. I'm awaiting the tree swallows, gross beaks and orioles. I do expect phoebes anyday now...anyday now. Did see my first grackles yesterday but not here they were in Elmira.

Just start complaining timber Since I did I’ve heard them almost daily. I guess that’s how you get what you want in today’s world

Our turkey hunters couldn't get it done early on and had to get back to work. But the birds are still here and the hunters will be back tomorrow. This pictures is from yesterday: Attachments:
