Sat in these frigid temps 18 feet up archery hunting in the SRAs from 2 o'clock till dark. Saw 11 doe and a 6 point. I had 5 come past me at 5 o'clock, but I am looking for a doe without fawns. Unfortunately, the two mommas both had little ones with them. It was cold but a heck of a late season hunt. They were moving this afternoon.

Took the morning off but plan to sit the same tree tonight. 25 for high so it should be a bit more comfortable but cold enough for good movement.

This time shoot the fawn. Then you don't have to worry about shooting a doe with fawns. LOL.

I think one of the deer I saw yesterday was a shed buck.

Really don't know why people worry about shooting a doe with fawns.
Did Disney get to some of you? LOL

I ended up seeing the same 5 as yesterday. This time they skirted me and I wasn't able to be tempted.

When is the last time you shot one? Our deer population is not that high, plus, we are bordered by a state forest DMAP area, which is one reason why our population is low.

Since I started shooting baldies in 1986, the majority have been little duffers. Especially if I'd already taken a buck that year. Have a lot of the buck ground up for use in meatloaf and meatballs, save the does for tender eatin' meat.

You buy them when you purchase your hunting license, either online or through a POS. Take a little research first. You need to find out where they are located and the unit number, there's a map. I think you can buy up to two per unit? The kicker is, if you want one your best bet is getting it through the internet. You'll need to stay up late Sunday night and purchase your licenses and any DMAPs as soon as they go on sale, they go fast. This is one of the reasons I'm not in favor of doing away with the County Treasurer, along with mail in applications for purchasing doe licenses.

When I had the heart to shoot a lass, I'd do the same. Problem I was encountering quite a few times, the little sh!ts were apparently trying to gain some independence, and not hang on momma's tit. Drop momma, and they'd show up.
Did it for years. I simply cannot do it any longer. Not "Disney'fied", but just can't do it.
