Yesterday Saturday(1/8) was the last day. Hard to believe 2 years have passed since my Late Season Elk hunt January 2020...first year for the PA Late Season.
Anyone hear of any reports??

I follow Elk County Outfitters and Hicks Run Outfitters on FB and they've only shown a couple Cow kills. I know they said one of the clients they had out for everyday and couldn't find a Cow Elk.

That was Zone 2 where the HRO couldn't find a Cow. They did get another hunter a huge Bull in zone 2 though

I also just saw Trophy Rack Lodge has some reports on their FB page. I also heard Zone 2(highest cow tag allotment) was tough.

Zone 2(cow tag) with Elk County Outfitters. I hunted 2 days & killed afternoon 2nd day. Saw tons of bulls & very few cows.

I was talking to a Guide for Hicks Run that I ran into while hunting the Inline season. He was scouting for the upcoming elk season. Anyway he told me the Bulls were easier to find and kill than the Cows

Anyway he told me the Bulls were easier to find and kill than the Cows I agree with that. If I remember we had 8 or 9 hunters & the last one to tag was on Saturday(last day of season). I know all tags were eventually filled. Sounds like 2022 was a tough year. Loggy's PA 2020 Late Season Elk Hunt

So Zone 2 has that reputation. I hunt Zones 6 and 8 for Deer and Bear not for Elk of course

Yeah I'd think 2 would be real good since it borders the Benezette unit

Zone #2 had 11 out of the 39 Late Antlerless issued this past season. Next 2 highest were Zone #12(5 issued) & Zone #5(4 issued). Late Season Bull there were 10 issued with Zone #13(2 issued) and all others(2,4,5,6,8,11,12 & 14) issued one each.

Hicks Run just shared that while they weren't finding any Cows in Zone 2 there was a herd of 50 across the street in zone 7!

Not official but heard 36 of the 49 Late Season Elk Tags were filled. Of course....could possibly change once finalized like the Bear Harvest numbers!

Final Tally: From Jeremy Banfield, PGC Final numbers from the late elk season. Note the assigned zones listed in parenthesis under zone 1.
Congratulations to all the hunters, successful or not, you participated in one of the most coveted Pennsylvania hunting experiences. That alone is something to be proud of.
