When I left for home on Tuesday there was about 2" on the ground on top of Gooseberry and higher ridges of Camp Mountain towards Proctor. It was snowing like crazy Tuesday mid-morning. Not much laying on ground in/around Hillsgrove valley area..

I never been on Gooseberry. Couldn't find it on a map either Turn up Hoppestown Road(at Hillsgrove store). It's the huge mountain on your right as you head-up hard road. Back side of mountain is bordered by Mill Creek. Loyalsock State Forest comes in (borders) about halfway up mountain. Gooseberry Trail is at top of mountain on right on Hoppestown Road. Trail goes up over mountain and ends on other side at Big Hollow Road. Mountain is called Gooseberry Hill on SF Map. There's a State Forest sign for Gooseberry Trail on both ends(Hoppestown Rd & Big Hollow Rd). Hillsgrove Ranger Station has the SF Map for Loyalsock SF. I've killed a number of deer & turkey there over the years. Several decent ledges that seem to consistently produce acorns on side toward Hoppestown Road..

Loggy you ever been to that overlook that you have to access from Big Hollow road? Yes....not too tough of a hike over Gooseberry Mtn. accessing from Hoppestown Road. Driving in from Mill Creek Road.....when you get to the intersect of Mill Creek Road & Big Hollow Road it's less than a half mile you will see a sign for the Gooseberry Trail on the left. It's a standard PA SF brown sign w/white letters. They're the 2 easiest ways.

I need to go there. I never was there and my wife's uncle was just telling me about it. We ran into him on High Knob Saturday

I'm not discounting those bucks Loggy because they're nice. However,I'm seeing true giants being killed all across this area.My buddy cleans skulls and the giants he's cleaning rather than people even mounting them is hard to understand. There's never been a better time to be a deer hunter in this state.

The one on the bottom right was a rifle kill. Those guys kill bucks like that every year like that. That one was a 13 point. They're very dedicated and put their time in.The guy on the top right is one of my best buds. He's probably the best shot I've ever seen with a rifle.

Yep. Work acquaintance, met him the 1st time about a year or so ago I don't know him as well as the other guys but we've hunted together a time or two in Flintlock season. His brother is in the picture strait above.Him and my niece have a daughter together. One thing is for sure, those guys put the time in upstate and know how to kill those big woods bucks consistently. It would be a rare year that their meat pole doesn't look like that.My buddy Tom is in the top righthand picture. He told me he saw about three deer per day.
