Been at Sullivan County camp pretty much last 2 weeks between bear & deer. Saw a few bucks but none offered a shot I was comfortable with. No luck on bear plus heard fewer shots than ever before during regular Bear Season. Had about 4" snow on top when left today & still snowing. Killed my first deer ever on a SUNDAY(mature doe)!! Angling shot through shoulder with rear quarter exit. My 6.5 Swede 156 grain Norma Oryx instantly turned lights out. Sure glad the World didn't end!! lol

Congratulations! But what happened with Browning X Bolt 6.5 Creedmoor? That was a really good set up ya had there.

My 6.5CM X-Bolt was along on trip but days I hunted from my ground blind was toting my CZ550-FS as it's a lil shorter maneuvering inside my one man blind. Plus...gazing at that purdy mannlicher walnut wood stock helps pass the time of day while in close quarters.

Congrats Loggy. Was there much shooting Saturday? Mike….Not nearly as much shooting as I expected. Many of the big hunt club camps like Ogdonia and Loyalsock Hunt club only had A few hunters about 25 percent compared to prior years. Broken Arrow Camp was vacant first time I ever remember.

Saturday was a blustery/windy day(35 mph) in the top ridge I was hunting. Was great having Sunday to hunt which was a much calmer day.

I was hoping that it would open-up additional Sunday hunting opportunities. Haven't read of any negative reports stemming from the current Sunday hunting days allowed....only positive. Have talked to quite a few hunters with kids in college like CS who had to return to college Monday after Thanksgiving that were pleased with the additional hunting opportunity. Hopefully, they will elevate input to the PGC. Appears that the current Sunday additions were totally seamless.

But how can you ignore the damage to all those people who are now condemned to that place down below because they missed church in order to kill something? I better clarify; "JK"

The only bad thing about having that sunday to hunt was that I didn't feel like taking a day off from work to hunt on monday. It's strange how the older I get,the less motivation I have to over hunt.

Hunt after church might help those who went to church.

That sad, they have total control over semis, and refuse to expand that

My Son made me laugh on Saturday. He cut loose with his lever action 308 on a big doe that was making its way away from him. I walked up to him as he was preparing to gut it and I said "that was some fast shooting" to which he replied "that's why the PGC won't allow semi autos, they know what we would do with them" 😅

Picked-up my doe at butchers today. Fattie weighed-in at 152 lbs!! Got 3 large ole fashioned cloth/smoked honey sweet bologna rolls(Mom already got hers ) and 2 lbs of honey sweet sticks. All the rest cut into butterfly loin cuts, steaks, roasts & burger. Still have 3 packs burger & 2 steaks left from last years deer & 2 elk roasts/one elk burger then will start into enjoying this yummy one!! Life is good!!

Well since the ass clowns insist on opening the rifle season on a weekend day after Thanksgiving, why don't they open it on Sunday instead of Saturday, and include the second Sunday also ? That way there is no break in the season. If you have a camp, are retired, and want to stay the full season, you can hunt EVERY day. Take the Sunday from archery, and tag it on to the 2nd week of rifle if they're hell-bent on not actually adding another Sunday. I mean, does it really hurt archery dude to move "their" Sunday to rifle, after already getting SEVEN WEEKS in prime fall. Not to mention Flintlock (archery) also ?
That would at least give a much needed extra day to get sh!t in order after Thanksgiving. I can only think it would help camp owners immensely. It would help me, as I host hunters, and I don't even leave my house.
