It's rabbit season and squirrel and grouse and wood cock. All harder to hit then a deer but so much easier to carry.

I'm going. I wanted to spend the day in Sullivan but with the morning rain I'll probably start the day in Schuylkill where its not supposed to be raining and then drive up to Sullivan after the morning hunt.

I'll be out in bald eagle state forest most of the week. Lots of acorns and I had a 25 yard shot opportunity already on an app. 200# bear but it wasn't in season....supposed to have 15 or so guys for part of the week....sounds good to me. Supposed to cool off a bit this week too.

Looking forward to taking 2 young ladies out again. They are so excited and better prepared this year. Mom will also be along this time, she missed last year's fun.
DennyF has again graciously allowed these girls to hunt his property, and along with permission from a neighbor of his, we have some good spots.
Heading up this weekend to prepare, then back up Wednesday afternoon.

Don’t think I’m even going out till the middle of the week. Saturday’s temps are warmer than I like, if I harvest something it would need done up right away and put on ice for one thing, and for some reason I can’t get excited about it this year. Last years back operation didn’t turn out as well as I hoped either, so that’s part of itt too. The pain has lessen some in the lower back, but my legs still tire easily, especially on rough terrain.. Like the forecasted temp for the middle of the week, maybe then. Good luck, and happy hunting to those that are going this Saturday and next week.

It robs you of your sleep and robs your ability to do task that should be very simple. I've been dealing with pain emanating from my back into my left hip since 2019. (Yes...that long) I have to sleep on an ice pack every freaking night just to attempt to get 5-6 hours of solid sleep. I've seen every specialist in Pittsburgh and in two weeks I (finally) am seeing a neurosurgeon (I'm never going to get back surgery again) that will implant a pain block. Initially it will be a temporary one to see if it works....hopefully this will do the trick. If the temp one works they will install a permanent one. With all the issues MS "provides", and the facts of x-ray's and MRI's show no "significant" structural issues.....I'm down for this last resort.

Last spring I messed up my back very badly. My wife had to take me to the ER, I was in so much pain. First time I was ever in a wheelchair, and didn't even attempt to refuse the help.
For most of April I was in terrible pain. It just plain robs you of any comfort and sleeping was about impossible. Eventually, with a chiropractor and muscle relaxers, and one day at a time, it worked itself out. That said, twice I used special brownies we had purchased in Colorado to get some relief at night. It was the only time I used the brownies, and I think they are still somewhere in the house. Lol It did open my eyes to the medicinal use of....brownies.....

At my VA place with DISH guy on his way and hvac man on tap little later for annual system check. Wish we had cable here as DISH is a constant PIA. My Sullivan County camp has the best TV package……NONE!!!!! Gotta keep the Mrs happy down here though. The ole “pain/pleasure” principle!😁

I feel for you, my wife's one cousin has MS so I know a little about it, and I'm truly thankful to God I'm not in your shoes. Some nights I get a good nights sleep in bed, some nights I don't. I then end up end up in my recliner to sleep, it eases the pain, spent a year sleeping in it every night before the last surgery. Then there are nights that even that doesn't work and I head for the left over perception pain meds. Hopefully I can talk my primary care doc to refill it if I run out, he did the last time. Figure I have a few months left in stock. I also carry a few pills with me hunting just incase I need them to get off the mountain. I have a high school friend that also had back surgery like I had, fusion, and by the same surgeon, he's doing fine, pain free. But he also told me he sees two physicals therapist twice ever week.I hate it but at the same time I know if I want to continue doing what I like, hunting and hiking, I need to do the exercises and strength training. I'm sure some of my problem, if not most, is lost of muscular strength over the past 15 years since I retired, especially in the upper and core areas. I realized this last week when I went to pull back my old compound bow, I couldn't do it. So I bought a set of resistance bands, and started using them yesterday. My goal is to work with them a hour each day, and see if that helps. If not them I'm going to make an appointment with my hip knee surgeon to make sure my problem isn't in that area, had the right knee replace 15 years ago. Doc checked it a couple of year ago and said it was fine, but I'm experiencing pain in both legs and knees right now when I walk, or stand without something to lean on. A walking cane or stick is now my constant companion. Good luck to everyone who's going out this week. I'm sure I'll get out some this year, it won't be very far from the truck, but at lease I'll be sitting in the woods hunting.

But I do some, on occasion, light workouts. Doing to much wipes me out and drains a lot of my days "available energy". So...it's a double edge sword. But keep at it....I know it's not under the "fun" category of things to do....but outta necessity, it keeps you doing what you want to do.
