I went to my local bow shop yesterday. The girls sliced my fletchings up pretty good, so the needed refletched. I had intended to buy a new crossbow this year, things didn't work out. Anyway, I had my eye on a Wicked Ridge, a more narrow CB. 9.5 inches, axel to axel. They had crossbows from $400 to $4000. I mean, 4 GRAND!?! WTH? Kathy asked if they sell many $3000 and up, and he said, Oh yes. Just crazy.

Yes you were. The technology was in it's infancy when they got full inclusion and then it exploded.I started to support them but they've gotten completely out of hand where they aren't even close to archery.

Pretty much all the xbow shooters at our club that started out several years ago, have switched to the new, expensive models in the past couple years. Very few are still shooting what they started out with. What I mean by the more expensive models, are the ones with nearly parallel limbs when cocked and ready to shoot.
Last year one guy leaned out of his tree stand to his left for a shot, not realizing the limb on his new xbow wouldn't clear the tree and it cost him a minor injury and a new limb. After using his old one for years, never gave it a thought on clearance.

I agree, but then, when firearms season started everything was open sights and pumpkin balls. Everything evolves, yet, here we are, more opportunities to hunt with different stuff, and the deer management has evolved to allow it all

Didn't I see not too long ago, a crossbow that fired two bolts. I guess one was held in reserve and if you needed another shot, you just fired the other bolt. Pretty soon someone will come out with a crossbow with a magazine. Just cock and fire.

But I would think with some engineering and a CO2 cartridge, a semi-auto 5 round or so crossbow is possible.

True.....I don't think those are legal in Pa. The Excalibur Twinstrike which does have 2 arrows cocked and ready to rock is Pa legal, according to the Bureau of LE. Because that crossbow has two separate limbs and two separate triggers, it is legal. So I was told.

Hopefully the limb it cost him, was on the Xbow.
