Hard to believe it is only three days away. I went to check a camera where I plan on hunting Saturday morning. I have three decent bucks and some does hanging around. I am primarily trying for a doe in the early season. While I was walking in I could hear machinery running. Turns out the township is running sewer lines and they are currently 60 yards from the stand I planned on hunting. Ugh!!
My other main property is currently being logged off. It is not looking too good for me thus far.

In a week the deer will be used to it and the sewer guys will be 200 yds away

I doubt the sewer line install will have much effect on the deer.

Actually, as curious as deer are, that sewer line might be like bait.

I doubt the sewer line install will have much effect on the deer. In time, no. This coming Saturday it may be an issue, lol.

Pretty good morning. Passed up my first deer of 21/22. Big momma at 21 yards. She had two little ones in tow and I didn't feel like killing her today. Ended up seeing 6 does.
Cool encounter with a screech owl. Haven't seen one in awhile. I heard him calling before it got light. Once it got light he flew closer and landed on a limb next to me. After we checked each other out for a bit, he took off. Its has been a long time since I have seen one. They are cool little buggers for sure.

And you still saw deer, despite the disturbance.

And you still saw deer, despite the disturbance. Yep. Equipment was there but I guess they don't work on the weekends. I hunted the evening as well. Saw 5 doe and passed up another big momma at 12 yards at 6pm. She had one little one in tow and I couldn't bring myself to do it. Makes me wonder sometimes why I put in the effort. Scouting, cameras, stands, time, etc.... when I don't take shots when I get them. I guess I like hunting more than killing these days.

In archery season I concentrate only only hunting bucks. I figure if I take a doe, I'm gonna be in the middle of a field dressing when a nice buck happens to stumble in range.

Sat last night and seen 3 does that were too far. Thought this morning would be a good movement day but only saw one deer and could not tell what it was.
