My brother, Grouse28, has been bird hunting in Montana the last 10 days. Vast areas, lots of birds this year. Dave got a new dog last year, that is simply amazing, and Jack is doing a fine job. Dave's friend Greg caught this great pic as Dave was giving Jack a drink. Not sure I've ever seen a prettier hunting pic. Enjoy and soak in the moment, as I have. Attachment Deleted

I have shown this pic to my wife.....a retired art teacher......who frankly has never retired from "Art." She does color pencil drawings that are (IMHO) fantastic.
She thought this pic was very worthy of being framed and hung in a proper, prominent place. She said the dog was the "center" of the photo and your brother, not having all the details of his face\identity, is "the hunter"....as "the hunter" could be anyone out there chasing birds. It also reflects the humanity of taking care of our pets that work so hard to please us.

I thought this picture so beautiful that I took the liberty to share it, along with the story, with my friends on Facebook. This picture has foreground, the dog; a middle, the hunter; and background with the wonderful sky. The responses I received widely varied. Everyone loved the composition. A few stalwart bird hunters, loved the subject. A few that used to own setters and now miss their dogs, loved it. Those friends that are hunters in general, loved it. If I had a large print of this picture I would find a place on a wall in MY office to display it. It's that good!

As a side note, there's a scene in the movie "Dances With Wolves" that shows an evening sky like this. If I remember correctly, filming had wrapped for the day and as the evening glow was coming on the sky suddenly exploded into reds, yellows and dark blues. Kevin Costner, I believe, was still in costume and the one to suggest to the director that they film it for possible use in the movie. Check it out. The same beautiful sky appears in the movie.

Dave is on his way home now, from yet another great Montana hunt. Does my heart good to see him enjoy the sport he loves. I cherish the hunts I've had with him. Lots of good memories. I'm only sorry I wasted so much of my life deer hunting. Somehow, I must get to Montana to hunt with him next year.
