I assume that some of you all actually hunt? With the spring turkey opener just 2 days away, who is going out? Hopefully we can get some kills posted here on the forum and talk hunting for a change.
As for me, I set a blind last weekend in one of my usual spots by a finger that comes off of a long ridge. Sunday morning, I got there at daybreak to listen and no birds gobbled. As I was setting the blind a few hours later, two fired up just a few hundred yards away. I hope some hens are sitting and the toms are looking for love Saturday morning.
Good luck to all. Weather looks pretty good.

I'll have to wait til Monday. Have to work Saturday. Getting harder to hunt as everything is getting posted that was previously open to the public by hunting groups. One really has me wondering because the one is county property. Do they lease out property or is it people just putting posters up? That's happened before.

I have little interest at this point. My son bas baseball games just about every saturday.I don't feel like hunting without him and I don't feel like trying to jam hunts in.I'll make it out a few times but my motivation just isn't there right now.I've seen two pairs of hens this past week without gobblers in the morning along with a few singles. It looks like their starting to nest right now so it may get good over the next couple of weeks if I find the desire to get out.Jordan has a baseball game at 3:00pm tomorrow but I'm not sure it would be a good idea to force him out of bed at 4:00AM JUST TO FEEL LIKE CRAP THE REST OF THE DAY.

I no longer hunt them but we really enjoy our friends, a father and son team, who have been hunting turkeys here for more than a dozen years. Lots of birds around this year. Should be good.

Maybe I wasn't clear.... I was asking Dutch a question. I didn't see any snow in his brothers> We got an inch or two of snow and I figured they got some as well in Tioga Co. Maybe not???

No snow here in downtown Ansonia. I saw a tiny bit over in Potter, and I mean tiny. I was spreading lime this morning. Got a ton at Cornell's. Made 4 trips up top, with an assist from my brother pulling my atv and trailer. When I got there, there was a gobbler gobbling just uphill from where he got his. We also found a dead, shed antlered buck .😭

My hunters struck out. They got close but couldn't close the deal. Had birds all around them but a couple of hens had their serious attention.

Called my cousin yesterday to let him know I wasn't coming up this weekend. Said they were supposed to get a dusting of snow overnight. Except for that one day last week when it got near 80, said it's been pretty cold at night.
Plenty of deer around, never did ask him about any gobblers. Way things work for me, doesn't matter when I get up, turkeys are always someplace else. Probably get up on the 10th, which is his Bday.

I have a whole mountain to myself and can't strike up a conversation with a gobbler. Something definitely seems off with the turkeys anymore.

I have a whole mountain to myself and can't strike up a conversation with a gobbler. Something definitely seems off with the turkeys anymore. I haven’t been out. Hard to get motivated when the grandsons can’t go and they were busy Saturday but what is really strange is I’ve yet the hear a gobble and I’m out around the farm every morning. I see turkeys everyday but haven’t heard a peep. My wife claims I have selective hearing but if that’s the case I would select to hear a gobble

I know there are turkeys here but know they can have years where they are totally silent. Some years they gobble their heads off. They want thunderstorms tonight I'm gonna go tomorrow if a thunderstorm doesn't get them vocal I don't know what will. Always had good action after a thunderstorm at night.

Perhaps it's pre-determined that you suck at calling in turkeys?

No, I was the kid who's mother would yell at to practice my calling outside because I would drive her nuts. Think I even drove her nuts when I was outside.
