For the turkey hunters that are into the biology of turkeys. Some interesting facts that I wasn't aware of, but can see what's going on in my little spot of the world.
Be ready, it's 1 hour and 20 minutes long

Well, can you summarize? I don’t have the time or patience for an hour and twenty two minutes.

Well, can you summarize? I don’t have the time or patience for an hour and twenty two minutes. Southern states have seen a big decline in turkey populations over the past 20 years. Arkansas isn't even getting enough recruitment to replace the hens. Most outhern states are at about 2-3 poults per hen. Nest success is about 20%. Lots more, but it shows it ain't just Pennsylvania

Saw huge flocks over the winter and 9 longbeards in my yard the other morning.

No...No....No....what you saw was cardboard cut outs of turkeys. The PGC sneaks in early and puts 'em out in the field......and the cougar cut out's are at the field edge!!

I have my eye on 6 very visible longbeards. Every morning the same spot. Just have to figure out how to get in and out without being harassed by the public or police.

Traveled to Bedford County Tuesday. Many parts of Somerset and Bedford look what we did the last week of March. I have been seeing less and less hens lately. The longbeards I have been keeping tabs on were without hens this morning. I bet some have begun sitting around here. I bet they would have run me over if I was out there giving them my seductive yelps and clucks.

I was blurting out some seductive yelps last evening. Not only did she NOT run me over, she kept right on washing dishes. And I honestly thought I was irresistible.
