Yep, interesting. Reminds me of one of the biggest bodied bucks I have ever seen. I often wondered if he had some kind of condition that caused excessive body growth. ??
I called him Droopy. His right ear drooped down and just hung on the side of his head. He had a giant typical 5 point left side, and the right was similar to the one pictured above and curved down under his jaw. When I first saw him, he was in a soybean field with several other bucks. I initially did not pay much attention to him because of the uneven rack, but while watching another typical ten through the binoculars, the ten walked close enough to Droopy they were both in my binocular view. I was shocked. Droopy was twice the size of the mature ten I was looking at. He was huge!
I hunted that buck for the next three years. I would see him once or maybe twice a season. He finally disappeared. After the fall he disappeared, I walked the woods and marshes several times over the winter trying to find him but never did.
Did anyone ever hear of a condition in whitetails that causes abnormal growth?
