My PA Elk's ivories!! May get the Mrs a pair of earrings made for Christmas.... a gift she surely will treasure!!😎 Interesting fact: Elk ivories are indeed tusks, of the same material and chemical composition as those sported by walruses, wild boars, and elephants. Most people think of tusks as long, pointed teeth rather than the rounded, thumb tip–sized nubs in the upper jaws of elk.

Be sure to post pics of the finished pieces, loggy. I always wanted to get a buck with the fangs or tusks they sometimes grow. No luck so far.

My wife wanted a necklace. I still 3 left in a little box from the 2 elk I harvested. The kids will find them when I'm gone.

Check into making jewelry from them yourself, Loggy. It would probably make her appreciate them even more. I've made many necklaces and earrings for my wife. It would be better than letting them sit in a box unused. My wife found a perfect flint bird point a couple years ago when we were looking for arrowheads. It's the only one we have ever found. I have considered having a necklace professionally made, but she said she rather I make it.

My art teacher daughter in trained in metal crafting so may run it past her. My wife did that way back in College. In fact, she took our HS rings and re-cast them into our wedding bands.

My art teacher daughter in trained in metal crafting so may run it past her. That sounds like a perfect plan and it would make it even more special-it'd be a great Christmas or mothers day gift.
