I bought a case of the ole Federal Heavyweights No. 7's(tungsten alloy blend) last year when Federal announced that they were discontinuing & moving on to the TSS line. Mebbie the HW's are not quite as potent as the new TSS but still a very lethal turkey load far superior to the ole copperplated lead. I also bought a George Trulock choke specifically designed for the No 7 heavyweights which produces patterns I've never even dreamed of out to 50yds. (Not beyond TK ). So I will just have to suffer & they will have to do for a lil while!! Who knows what the next super duper turkey load will come on the scene....as im sure there will be one forthcoming sooner than later!! The net difference between the old Federal HW & new TSS is 15 gr/cc vs 18 gr/cc in the tungsten alloy shot formulation. Next year they likely will introduce a SUPERDUPER IMPROVED TSS....@ 20 gr/cc shot formulation @ who knows what price plus will be extremely scarce!! Curious if anyone here has experience with these shells??

Just purchased a box of federal tss #7 today for the 20 gage I’m putting together. We’ll see how they work hopefully next week. Not planning on pattering any more than one, seeing how they’re about 8 bucks a trigger pull. The owner of the shop told me he and a couple of friends/relatives reloaded some last year with a mixture of #7 and #9, killed 4 birds. His was the closest @ 25 yard, said he dang near took its head off. Longest was 65 yards, all were bang flop.

All my reading on the new TSS shells tells me they're about as potent turkey medicine as you can get. Best of luck!!

We used the old in #7's and they worked great. Just finished using them up and am using the current TSS in #9. Happy so far but only killed 1 bird on the new stuff.

My brother bought TSS for his new 20 guage semi. I'm not sure he patterned them yet, but I'm sure it will so well for him. He's excited to use the 20 next year.
