I sat out this morning but probably should have gone. 31 degrees here. Partly cloudy. No wind. Dang it!

Planned to work on my shed today so didn't go out this morning. A couple buddies called last night to say they were going out. Said they planned to wear their deer hunting clothes and one was taking his heater. They texted about 2 hours ago to say that they heard a gobble and a few shots in the distance. Said the wind was also picking up pretty good.

I sat out this morning but probably should have gone. 31 degrees here. Partly cloudy. No wind. Dang it! It sucked. We heard 1 bird on roost a few times and that was it. Neighbor at home said he didn’t hear a bird at all this morning at our place which is very unusual. Was going to go this evening but with high winds decided to take a nap. We will give it a go tomorrow morning.

Better day today as we worked a couple birds. Didn’t get them to come but heard several gobbling.

Put gobbler #2 down this morning at 6:10. Fast hunt but pretty darn exciting.

Got some intel on where a bird was roosted yesterday morning so I made the trip this morning just as a thunderstorm cleared the area. Got to my spot at 5:30 and not a peep. At 5:50, he let loose but was about 300 yards down over a hill from where he was yesterday. I did a quick relocate and set up above him. Pretty much a textbook hunt. Sometimes they want to die. He came in with another longbeard at 6:10. He was bigger than number 1. 10 1/2 inch beard and hooking 1 1/4 inch spurs. Attachment Deleted

So did you move the blind and everything or just duck in some cover ?

So did you move the blind and everything or just duck in some cover ? No blind or decoys on this hunt. I planned on moving around today. Just backed up against a big tree and set up in a spot where he had to be at 20 yards to see up over the rise. I saw his fan first, then when his chest appeared I sent the arrow on its way.

Nice Ridge. I was wondering. I was thinking man if you moved a blind and all you must be some ninja or something.
Good work I bet you felt naked not being in the blind.

Good work I bet you felt naked not being in the blind. Especially when trying to run arrows through them.

Called in a hen first thing then stumbled on a hen with about 10 5" poults. So there are hens no longer sitting on a nest and only heard one gobble. So you would think there is a lonely gobbler somewhere.

So you would think there is a lonely gobbler somewhere. There is. I saw him. He never gave me a clean shot. Then he took a Sprit Air flight to Colorado. Hey......$57 is tough to pass up.
