If you don't hunt on Saturday then you aren't allowed to post on here for a week. Figure that should cut down on the Covid and politic posts a bit on here. Anyhow, it looks like good weather for Saturday, so my son and I will be hunting here in PA. Will hunt separately since he is old enough to be on his own. Sunday is looking wet again for Ohio. Will have to see what happens.

I will be out and about. Have a blind set already in the same general area I hunt every year on the opener. Looks like I will be able to hunt during the first week as well as we have not been called back to work yet.

Bad about being out of work, but being able to hunt alot will be nice.

Headed to northern Potter to start my month of iron man hikes and breaking beaks ! Can't wait. Been up every weekend since the last Saturday in March and there's a good crop of long beards waiting to wear tags around their legs this season. By far my favorite type of hunting.

Try not to tag out in the 1st 2 days. LOL. I don't see that happening this year. Pretty slim pickings based on the few morning trips I took to do some scouting.

Good luck to all on Sat. My son and I will be out. Got a couple Jake's figured out and I checked the regulations. They are legal and taste darn good.

I've been out almost every morning for the past two weeks and only heard gobbling last friday and they were hot.Yesterday morning I saw a lone hen and this morning I saw a lone hen going about her business in a completely different area.I have zero confidence for this saturday as of now but a switch can flip at any time. You just have to be there when it flips. The kid and I put about 4 miles on our boots last saturday and never heard a thing. The sign was there but they didn't want to talk. It's not the first time it's happened and won't be the last.

Going to camp next weekend if it doesn't rain. So used to being herded and told what to do now, wouldn't want to offend anyone by not following the rules.

Yesterday was an absolute gorgeous day to be in the woods. Nothing could beat sitting in the blind with my adult son. He doesn't get to hunting with his work schedule and I love every minute I spend with him when he does.
Called three jakes in about 7:30...a blue head with about a 6" beard and two redheads with nubs. Those buggers stayed in the brush just looking around for the hen. About 10:00 a couple started up again and we noticed a jake off to our left. My son shot him at about 20 yards. Nice bird with a 7" beard.

Never knew a jake could have a 7' beard. Thought they were all nubby. 2-3"

Worked one for a solid two hours at sun up but he would not commit to coming in all of the way. Probably hung up at about 60 yards. After that I never heard another gobble.
Beautiful day out, though.

Set up on a gobbler this morning and had 9 jakes comes into 15 yards. The gobbler stayed out of range. I think he had a few hens with him as I heard them at first light. The clouds and winds came at 8 and I never heard a gobble after that. Pulled the plug at 11.
That makes 14 jakes so far within range.

We have been out the last 2 mornings. We can't seem to get them to talk or work after they come off the roost. Weather doesn't look good for tomorrow morning, but will probably hit it on Thursday.

Was gonna go out tomorrow.....but the prediction is 90% chance of rain all thru the morning. I'm not going .....so it will likely be 70 and sunny.

Wife and I went to camp early Monday afternoon, came back home this morning, snowing there from 3am until we left at 10:30 today. Hunted yesterday morning, had good sign but not so much as a yelp. Back at camp yesterday about 5pm I'm on the front porch sitting on a chair leaning back against the camp having a brew. Caught movement on the state forest road, about 20 yards away, yep, here come a young Jake walking up the road.
