Ive been mainly hooked on some of the copolymer mono lines such as P-line etc but have been reading more & more positive reports on some fine thin diameter braided lines coming on the market such as Sufix etc. Diameters are now in the 40 lb braid equaling 8-10 mono!! Plus they seem to have the guide wear problem improved in the newer braids. Anyone into braided & whuts ur favorite??

I use braid and mono but I use them for different applications. I like the power pro braids, I use them on my catfish rods and on my flipping sticks for bass.

I use braid and mono but I use them for different applications. Same here, I use fireline when jigging; mono for everthing else.

Thats whut im thinkin bgh...on some of my saltwater outfits. I have only used the thin diameter braided on my Penn 340GTI for cod fishing out of Gloucester when we were jigging diamond jigs in 2-3 hundred foot of water. There ...the minimal stretch/thin diameter was a definite advantage. I did have some cheaper backing on the reel since the thin diameter really takes a ton of yds to fill spool plus hits the $$!! ;D

I'm seeing that some reels show 2 differentt line capacities...one for mono & one for braided.

I don't know for sure but your most likely right. My 2 surf reels are Penn a 650 and Slammer both open face thinkin braid works for both. Outdoor life had a write up on Lew's spinning reels and since my G/son loves his bait caster small size I thought what the heck and ordered one the 300 from your friend and mine theCabela's brothers. Turns out the reel is back ordered story of my life, anyways it comes with a spool for braid and mono. For the cost of reel a value and Lew's effort to get open face on the market well built I'm goin to give it a try with new Power Pro on it. It's goin on a 7' St.Croix MH rod guss the 10 yr. old Shimno will rest a bit, and yess both Shimno's are spooled with 1Fireline 2 Power Pro older 2000 models....

Ya got some fine equipment there bghunter. I'm a Penn fan too. I just ordered 2 spools of Sufix 832 Advanced Superline - Low-Vis Green to fill my Penn 965 & Calcutta 400. Stuffs amazing in that its diameter for (30 LB test) is comparable to 10LB mono @0.011" / 0.29mm !! Those fish won't have a chance this season!! ;D

My Sufix 832 Advanced Superline arrived!! Very nice...really thin. Also got some Woodstock dacron 50LB backing since my reels would eat over 400 yards of the Sufix Superline.

Suffix 832 is what i've been using for the last two years for our flounder rigs. Love the stuff. the sensitivity is off the charts compaired to mono.
Our riggs: Shimmano Trevala 6'6 MH Jigging rod Fin-Nor Inshore spinning reel Suffix 832 30lb braid with 6' 20lb mono leader. Love this set up it is light and fast action but when you hook into somthing big it has the back bone to handle it.

Thats whut I like to hear Duane!!
I'm hoping it lasts longer than mono too. That sun & salt really hammers mono.
Gonna be tearing down my reels going over them this weekend gettin ready.
