I desire one. Bear chilli is one of the camp favorites, and we're out of bear meat.

We had a lousy year, as far as harvest goes, but it wasn't the PGC fault or ours. Mother nature caused it with a very poor acorn crop, and the bears just weren't there as usual. My crew, which only consisted of 9 hunters, made 5 different drives on Saturday, saw one bear. It came out to a watcher, but was only 18" tall and weighed 40 to 50 pounds. It was all alone, have no idea where the sow was, hopefully it makes it through the winter. My one buddy's camp saw nothing on Saturday. On Monday we combined 4 crews plus a couple of stragglers to reach a full crew. We had one bear get by the watchers on the first drive, and nothing else on the remaining two we made, until hanging it up at 3:30 pm. We did see more deer signs this year than normal, but as far as I know only 3 or 4 deer were seen, one was a wall hanger near my camp that I'll spend some time pursuing come the next couple weeks. I also saw more deer spotting Sunday night on the way over and back to my buddy's camp to find out where to meet Monday morning. Hopefully this year at camp I will at lease see a couple.

I keep hearing about a great acorn crop. Not where I am at.

We had close to none of any oak species' acorns at camp. Here at home, the red oaks put down a bumper crop. It was like walking on ball bearings.

The white oaks are really suffering. A lot are dead.

Up to 4072. I agree expanded opportunities. Hopefully they cut back next year to get a reading on overall population.

yep a record kill and it only took a eight week season to do it. Agree! It makes a person wonder if there were more bears back then. Still, its a season total. We don't want to get Ford Frick* involved.

Using bear as an example, can you imagine what it would be if the gc was using check stations to input 350,000 deer into a computer?

One PGC official that spoke to a group of us said he didn't even think it was necessary to check bears. An, but I forget, bears are special

An, but I forget, bears are special A small bear was hit and killed last week on RT422 between Butler and Kittaning. Game commission was out and had it picked up within 2-3 hours. Yep, bears are very special in this state. I've seen deer hit and killed in front of houses that lay there and rot and stink for a week or 2. No effort made to clean them up.......🤔

They seem to be picking up the road killed deer much faster this year than in the past.

Only way a deer gets picked up right away is if it has a nice set of antlers.

For those of you who have seen a Bear you understand why they are special. I've seen over a hundred in my life but I see a hundred or more deer every month for as long as I remember.
