Hello: my name is Brandon, and as the subject line says I just moved out here from Oregon where I lived my entire life. Why I hear you ask? Retired in February, and we moved to be closer to our only daughter and two grandchildren (oh, and son-in-law as well). Started deer hunting when I was 15 and was instantly hooked; have been hunting big game in the Western states ever since. As my username suggests, I am a fan of rifles and particularly magnum calibers, but I also archery hunt, and love to fish as well. Looking forward to hunting here in PA, once I figure out where to go and when. Hunting Eastern Whitetails is a bit different than Western Mulies or Blacktails from what I've read, so I'm hoping to glean some suggestions and tips from all you long time residents. Anything you got to offer, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.

Welcome! Rest assured, you will get an education on this forum. Most of it is in jest. On a side note, years ago my buddy had a custom .338 mag built. The first deer (Pa whitetail) he shot with it, he blew the front leg plum off. He hasn't shot a whitetail with it since. He did take it to Colorado and Wyoming for elk.

Welcome to the forum. Ask any questions you may have and we can attempt to answer 'em. I've hunted in WY and know it's pretty wide open there. Don't know what your terrain was in Oregon, so it's tough to compare.....('Cause I dunno)
