Seeing how I’m too old to climb trees anymore, and a ladder stand isn’t exactly portable, I’ve been doing a lot more just sitting.Trouble is finding a good place to sit, A good stump or blowdown isn’t always available, and sitting on the ground can be uncomfortable, then getting back up is no easy task anymore. So I just got me a Dead Ringer Hammock Seat from Amazon, think I’m going to like it. It need some tweaking. I didn’t like the plastic buckle on the strap that goes around the tree so I got a tie down strap with a metal cam lock that I can cinch up good and tight that also has a longer strap, from Tractor Supply. The one review mentioned that you need to punch a hole in the seat area so rain water will drain out of it, a hot nail should accomplish that problem. I tried it out today on a large walnut tree in the back yard today. Had it set up in a couple of minutes. I fastened it as high as possible, the telescoping metal leg determines height. Found it’s a lot more comfortable with a hot seat in it, so will be using one. Very comfortable, Like sitting in a chair, I can swivel left or right some, tree acts as a backrest and I can easily stand up. It’s very portable, only weighs 2 lb, packs in a bag 12” long x 3” in diameter so will fit inside my day pack or you can let it hang on your side. As I said ,I think I’m going to like it. Proof will be in the pudding.

I think you will love the Hammock seat. I have one and it is great. Very portable and very comfortable. It does take setting it up a few times to learn at what height you need to hook it to the tree.

I used one last year. In cold weather you need a pad. Bottom line is that if you can find a tree (shouldn't be a problem) then you have something to sit on with the Hammock Chair/Seat. Mine is in my pack for the upcoming Muzzy season.

Been using two versions of the folding leg dove hunting seat for many years. Mostly the one with tubular aluminum legs and a shoulder strap. Easy to carry, comfy enough to sit on, although not as comfy as some other choices are? I mostly like it for ease of carry. In most cases it can be placed at the base of a tree, for back support.
The other one has the storage bag under the seat, but it's got steel legs and is much heavier than the aluminum one.
Before getting those stools, mostly carried a mechanic's kneeling pad, to sit on a log or rock. Closed cell foam, about 10" wide and 24" long, inch thick.

About 5 years ago, four of us bought this seat down at the Sportsmen's Show with a discount. Of those four, I think possibly two have had issues with the telescoping leg wearing out.
On the other hand, my millennium tree seat has given me about ten years of service and is going strong. Only problem I have with it is it's too danged comfortable and I find myself taking naps quite frequently.

I'm going to try it out this year

I like it, used it in bear season. It works best with a tree of, say 14” in diameter or larger. I use a hot seat type cushion in mine, without it the hammock wraps around you and you feel like you’re in a cocoon. I would suggest you set it up a time or two before actually using it to determine how high for mounting and general set up.

Yes they are, and I didn’t get near as cold sitting in 20 degree temperatures that I thought I would, think it was because I was up off the ground.

The Dead Ringer Hammock Seat has been reconfigured. The new seat now has two (2) telescoping legs which makes it more stable and actually more comfortable. It's manufactured by Fanatics Outdoors and is now marketed as The Low Down Hunting Seat. The original hammock seat sold for $49.95. The new and improved Low Down Hunting Seat sells for $69.95. Their web site is www.fanaticoutdoors.com

Got a Dead Ringer Hammock but like the X-Seat(below) better for setting up on ground using a tree.. Rock solid/comfortable. Sets-up in a few seconds. Have one of those fat cushions on I put on but without still pretty good. X-Seat
