I figured I would make my first post on here from last saturday's rabbit hunt. Dale Sholder and his son Cory came down to hunt with my dad, my uncle and myself. The running wasn't great in the morning but it got much better as the day went on. We ended up taking 3 and had a few misses along the way. Dale and my uncle. Cory, Dale, and my dad.

Hi John, your pic's remind me how things were when I started hunting in the early 60's. I had friends that had beagles and they were my mentors. No one in my family ever hunted and if not for living next door to this family I may not have became a hunter. Great first post...welcome to PFSC.

what part of the state are you from stroupy? I know guys all over the state with dogs, from going to field trials all the time, I could probably get you in touch with someone if you know what style of dog you are interested in.

Do you know what style of dog you are interested in? Beagles come in all kinds of different speeds, from slow brace style dogs, to really fast hard driving dogs.
The weekend of march 2nd and 3rd there is a trial at susquehanna beagle club in mifflinville, PA. I don't think that's too far from you, and there will be a lot of good dogs there. It would be a good chance to see some different dogs run and if you liked something you could see if someone has pups out of that line.

My last one was a bluetick she was a beast when it came to chasing and desire doesn't really matter to me just as long as it chases and isn't too fast that if doesn't catch up to the rabbit.

I think you would really like the style of dog that is commonly run in the trials around eastern PA. They are pretty quick, but tight on the line. You can ask Dale how my dogs run he has hunted over them a few times now.

Nice post John. Thanks for a great day. Cory and I had a blast as always. Nice meeting your dad and uncle as well. Couldnt have asked for better company on a hunt. Looking forward to next season and getting out with you guys again. Good to see you here. Stroupy John's dogs hunt very well. Not to fast or to slow they push it at about the right speed for me somewhere in the middle. The rabbits arent streaking by you at mach 5.

Push them too fast they hole up. One year all the bugger did was hole up and some years they would chase for an hour before you saw the bushytail!
