Ms. Doris, Mugs, and I, are heading west to Camp Rip-N-Tear to avoid the 90 degree heat. It is usually 7-10 degrees cooler there than at home in beautiful and semi-tropical downtown Saint Thomas. We just finished picking vegetables from our garden. The tomatoes are starting. Four buckets of them and two of cucumbers. A handfull of fresh green beans for dinner tonight. As soon as Ms. Doris takes a shower to rinse off the garden, and we get Mugs ready to travel, we are hitting Rt. 30. Keep the home fires burning (or is it keep the faith, baby). This time I will try to bring back some photos.

There was a lot of rain out at the cabin, so Ms. Doris decided we should come home early. Mugs did not care what the weather was like. As far as he is concerned, all furniture is functional.

Oh, and I did download a few photos for your enjoyment. The big eight point is still hanging around.

A legal one, but not big enough for most of yinz. Dave and I think he would do just fine.

I enjoyed the pic of Mrs. Comfort, more than them deer pics. I got caught on the tractor about four hundred yards from club garage, yesterday in a downpour. First time in years I've been totally soaked like that, but I survived it, so far.

There are two chances one of us guys who hunt at Camp have to score on that eight-point. Slim and none. I probably have a better chance of hitting the power ball lottery. On the other hand, it sure is nice to see a few like that around, isn't it.

I've been seeing bucks near camp like those and bigger, over the past several years. They are around by the July Fourth weekend at camp, which I never miss. My cousin says they're usually seem feeding in bachelor groups, by the latter half of June
Since then I've had the scope on precisely one wall hanger near camp and that beauty was over 600 yards away, sauntering up a neighbor's hay field late in the afternoon towards the end of the first week. No matter, seeing them and knowing they're around, is an enjoyment. Especially considering what we'd had to shoot at around there from the late 60s on?
Might even get het up if I ever actually shoot one? Ain't losing any sleep over it, other than the usual lost sleep on the night before opening morning.

Pretty much the way I approach the subject, Denny. It is, however, nice to see them around, and it gives one the hope that, if the red gods smile on you, you might just get lucky this year and have one of them do something really dumb and give you a chance. It usually doesn't happen, but as usual, I'll get a bit worked up closer to the season opener. When that ceases happening, I'll probably be selling my guns and getting out of the sport.
