I have but it's been so long ago I don't remember what they tasted like. I ate them so they must not of been too bad.

Yes.. Most times they taste just like a woodcock. Suffice it to say it's an acquired taste one which I never quite acquired. Fortunately they are quite small.

I tried eating one. It tasted like liver to me, and I hate liver. A friend I used to hunt with had a good springer and I hunted with him often. He took the woodcocks and saved me the feathers for tying flies. He claimed he likes eating them. BTW, they were the only bird his dog would not retrieve all the way back to him. The dog would pick the bird up and drop it after a coming back part of the way..

Way back when the Mutt's family was poverty impacted, we ate everything I killed, includning woodcock, muskrat, and groundhog. I don't remember what most of them tasted like. It has been too many years and way too much water over the dam.

I have eaten quite a few groundhogs and a few muskrats. They both taste a lot like rabbit. Muskrat is very tender.

There is no white meat on a woodcock it's all dark. Very gamey fun to hunt tho!

I hunted woodcock once. Killed two. Seemed to easy, so I quit.
I'm told they taste bad, like liver. I gave mine to a friend who's dad loves them. He was in a nursing home and really enjoyed them when his son brought them for him.
He died not long after. Coincidence?

I remember when the rumor was going around about Micky D's putting ground up earthworms into their hamburger. Thought that might have been what you were referring to.
