Does anyone other than me on this site hunt chantereles or other mushrooms? If so, finding any chants yet?
I usually find some by this time of year and the past few years have produced bumper crops of many types.

Problem with me and Chanterelle's, it's too damned hot pussy-footing around the woods in July heat for me.
There's a website, Morels.com. I haven't been on it in years (I was Puffy), but the folks there will announce their finds for all mushrooms (by region). Not just Morels.

Didn't see any over the weekend. I wasn't really looking for them, but they really stand out when you see them. Could have picked thousands last summer.

Either of you ever find them (in any number) in non-Oak forests ? Or at least very little Oak ?

By the way, I'll tip my mushroom cap to anybody tromping around the woods today looking for them.

Just came back in a couple few hours ago. The walk in the woods wasn't bad 'til the bugs started getting active. Was a lot hotter moving a pile of firewood when I came back into the yard. Deer flies are getting bad.

Just back from a 6 mile jaunt in 37. Chanterelles just starting, poking up thru the leaf litter, couple of Indian Pipe, stink horns a beautiful scarlet tananger 5 deer and one forester from the Game Commission. No bear, turkey or rattlers today. The forester had his snake chaps on and he was extoling the virtues of chaga for tea and possibly bread. Make mine rye thankyou very much.
The sweat was washing the bug spray off as fast as I could apply it and I was kept busy swatting with my bandana.

Chaga is something I have never found. A friend of mine has been drinking a little of the tea he makes from his every day. He says he thinks it helps his knees and hip.

Fungus occaisonlly grows under my toenails, so I don't relish the idea of eatin fungus. As far as bug repelent, I drink mine. It's called Heaven Hill bourbon. Wife can't believe bugs don't bother me.
