Once again there is an albino chipmunk at the resort. The folks who work there tell me there are three of them now. We got lucky and got this photo of one yesterday.

I say...."PHOTOSHOP". Or mebby a ghost of chipmunks past? Back in the early '70's when we archery hunted with recurved bows, (You know....real bows ) Me and a buddy were hunting one morning. Came to "break time" and I walked over to where he was only to find him down on one knee with his knife trying to dig a broadhead out of a fallen tree. I ask him if he had a shot and he said a chipmunk that had it's head poking outta a knothole just would not quit the "alarm chirp." That arrow missed the little chipper by maybe 1". Funny as heck. Took him at least 30 minutes to retrieve that broadhead which required major sharpening after that.

We encountered the first albino chipmunk at the lake in 2010. Since then there have been reports of sightings from time to time, but this year takes the prize. I put several photos of that one in the latest book, The Luckiest Hunter With One Foot In The Grave. Albinos are truly one of the most interesting and rare things in nature, and we feel privileged to have seen our share.
