Been seeing and hearing more and more snow geese here in Lancaster County.
It is that time of year. Soon Middle Creek will be filled with the buggers.
I believe I saw where Goosehunter believes they may be one of the reasons for the decline in the resident goose population at Middle Creek.

From Jim Binder, resident manager at MC.
02/15/2013
Snow geese: 40,000 Down from 50,000 yesterday, it’s not unusual to see fluctuations like this.
Tundra swans: 3,000+ It’s hard to get a good estimate on swan numbers with that many snow geese on the lake with them.
Canada geese: several thousand
Ducks: Several more species have shown up lately. Seen this morning were mallard, black duck, pintail, widgeon, ring-necked duck, common merganser, and hooded merganser."
I've come to the conclusion that the snows are only a small part of the overall decline of the Resident Canada Goose population at MC. As with deer it all comes down to available habitat. 40 years ago MC resembled a golf course, today MC looks more like a jungle which is not the best for Goose reproduction.
This reminds me to ask for the goose harvest results from the blinds inside MC for this past season. Hope I don't have to submit a Right to Know form again this year!

Charlie, if they did it to you last year, you can pretty well figger they will require it again this year. I think you are now on the PGC's, "old crab" list. LOL
Just saw large flocks of snows going towards Manheim.
