Got up this morning figured it was going to be windy, but would go for the excercise. Got up to the top of the mountain, and the wind wasnt too bad. Within minutes the wind picked up. So I walked out to a spot I heard birds last week. Figured I would drop down over the sides, and hunt the benches. Found a nice spot over the side, and started to call when the wind would settle. Called a few times, and didnt hear any. Called a few more times, and I thought I heard one. Called again, and thought I heard one again. Called another and had one respond. Within minutes three birds were working up towards me. The birds were big, and thought the first one had a decent beard on him so he came to about 40yds, and stuck his head up and I shot. The bird dropped. Got up to him and he only had about a 4 inch beard on him. The end was blonde so I believe part of his beard froze off. Think hes a 2 year old as he weighed in at 20lbs.

Roast and eat the turkey first, stroupy. Then boil the bones and leftovers in a large stew pot. Save the broth. If you choose, you can add some soup base to it, or substitute some chicken broth. I prefer the soup base myself. You can buy soup bases at some stores. I get mine at SaveALot. Add enough water so that you have at least a gallon of broth. After the carcass has boiled for awhile, remove the bones, take the meat off of them and cut all meat into smaller pieces. Hint: removing the meat from the bones is much less painful if the carcass is allowed to cool first. Now, chop up some onions, celery, and carrots. I would add about a half-cup of each to a gallon or so of broth and meat. Optional: Add a can of mushroom stems and pieces. Boil some water and cook 1 cup of rice like you usually cook rice, then add this to the mess. I much prefer long grain wild rice. Bring the mess to a boil, then simmer for30 minutes or so. The longer it simmers the better it gets. Salt to taste. You may add any other seasonings you wish. This recipe should feed a starving family for a few days. Ms Doris loves this recipe, and it takes less work than most of my recipes.

Congrats, mutt! Saw turkeys out Thursday and Friday, deer everywhere and spotted a bear Friday afternoon.
32 degrees at camp Sat. morning, some flurries, then the wind picked up and did it ever blow. 40 MPH gusts according to the weather reports, but I think we had much higher gusts than that, most of the morning? So no luck. Couple of the local diehards were outta the woods by nine.
As luck would have it, afternoon turned out to be pretty nice. Sun came out winds died down, but never got about 47 all afternoon. At least I got some work done in the sunshine? More snow at dawn this morning and 33 degrees, then rain. Came home a bit ago, as rains forecast for tomorrow. Poured most of the way home, down to around Selinsgrove.

Umm, OKAY, congrats to Stroupy, then? Apparently the three hour drive home from camp now affects my reading comprehension, as well as my mood, from having to come back?

Put that "thing" in an oven cook bag. Add a liberal amount of Morel Mushrooms. Cook on 350, and adjust time to birds weight. Periodically baste with Morel Mushroom juice. When Turkey appears properly cooked, remove from oven, remove from bag, and THROW THAT SON-OF-A-B!TCH AWAY AND EAT THE MUSHROOMS !

Woke up, fell out of bed Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup And looking up I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke And somebody spoke and I went into a dream
Ahhhhh
