Will be interesting to see what happens with both proposals. Personally I think the Saturday opener has a better chance than Sunday hunting but who knows.

We eventually will have Sunday hunting. Will it happen this year? I don't know, but it will happen. Without it, a Saturday opening day for deer season will be just like the Saturday opener for bear. Pretty much a one day season. A few of us diehards will stick it out the entire first week, just like we do now. Most will do like they usually do, hunt only the first few hours of the first day.

I have only ever used vacation once for rifle season and that was because work was too busy and that was when I could get off. We have the current first day (Monday) as a holiday although I think that may change in time. The unions had given up Veterans Day years ago in exchange for the first day of rifle. That may switch back at some point. I think Sunday will happen eventually too, but I just know with the way the legislature works it never seems to just get passed.

That's pretty much what happens now, George. A few diehards hunt after the opening Monday. It is a one day season now. I remember when I started hunting. Tuesday and Wednesday will still very popular with pretty good hunters numbers afield. Today, Tuesday and Wednesday are dead. But, that is a good thing for us as we hunt them like we are archery hunting. We killed two bucks on the first Tuesday this past fall.

I believe the common sense solution is to wait for Sunday huntin and start the season on Sunday. Everybody gets something. School and college kids and those who work on Sat. get to hunt the first day. People with family committments get their Sat., small game and turkey hunters dont lose a day, and the camp dwellers get their day to travel to camp and get settled in. Simple common sense solution.

IMO, the opener is being moved with the understanding with the legislature that we will have an opening weekend.

I thought you oppose Sunday hunting? Thats your biggest problem. You assume too much. Not assuming anything. I seem to remember you not supporting legislation that legalized it. I did follow my question with a question mark so I was asking for clarification. Maybe I am wrongly assuming you know what punctuation marks mean? So do you or do you not support a regulatory transfer of Sunday hunting to the PGC?

For TK, as he seems to not understand when someone asks a question they are looking for an answer or clarification, not assuming what the answer is.
ques·tion mark /ˈkwesCHən ˌmärk/Submit noun a punctuation mark (?) indicating a question. used to express doubt or uncertainty about something.

I ask him a question complete with a question mark and he accuses me of assuming his position. I wouldn't ask the question if I were sure of his answer. I asked him a question; "I thought you opposed Sunday hunting"? His response was I was assuming something........If I was assuming something, I would have said "Since you don't support Sunday hunting............"
