Just throwing this out there. I will hunting Ontario the first week of June at lake Herridge Lodge and Resort in Temagami. www.lakeherridgelodge.com Cabins with full amenities right on the lake. Spring bear hunt over bait. This is a crossbow only hunt to be featured in a magazine. Everything is included except licenses. Boat, motor and gas is included in the cost for those that like to fish. Cost is about $2200 American. We went 7 for 7 last year. Lodge is about 5 hours north of Toronto. A few openings popped up if anyone is interested.

All spots filled. A fellow from Texas will be joining us to round out the group. Hopefully, we enjoy the type of hunt and the good weather we experienced last year.

Thanks. One thing for sure is it will be a boat load of fun. Half the group saw moose last year. I didn't. Would love to see one in the wild with my own eyes.

I went bear huntin in Canada once. I saw a cow moose, and a large wolf walked within 30 yds of me. When the guide picked me up that nite I told him about the wolf. He said "why didnt ya shoot it"? I told him I didnt half a wolf license and he said when somebody shoots one they then drive to town to get the license. Now he tells me.

I've killed two bears in Saskatchewan with my compound bow. Neither one was very big. I decided I didn't want to go for bears again unless they were good sized.
A couple years later my family doctor enlisted me to go along to the same camp. He had never hunted anything but birds, so we went on a fall hunt so that I could fish and duck hunt. I told him to not count on a big bear. I was filming his hunt and the first bear that came in was about a 50 pounder and I told him, "DO NOT SHOOT," Danged if he didn't pull the trigger but luckily he missed it clean. We then moved to a oat field blind and damned if he didn't get on to a 375 pound, perfect chocolate boar and made a good shot. I literally was holding on to him to calm him down. First Mammal he ever hunted.
A few years ago he built a new home outside of Mt Joy and has a three story trophy room with animals from 3 continents. I told him I created a monster.

In 2016 the Mrs and I went to Colorado to fly fish. I can fly fish if the stream isn't to deep or to swift....and when we go there we get a guide that knows the spots when I 'splain my condition and "needs." Anyway, on this trip we chose to fly fish on a lake on a small boat. So, as we got outta the car and were going to the boat......I can hear this crashing coming down the mountain side directly towards the lake. (relatively small lake). So.....out pop's this MAMA and her offspring. Wind was in our favor. I don't believe Mama saw us but I'm for sure the little one did as it kept going on the other side of Mama. I got about ten photos of 'em going along the lake....with Mama dipping her big head underwater chomping up something good. The little one would follow Mama into the lake....Mama could walk but the baby had to swim some of it. Frankly....it absolutely made out day!! Even told the guide if I didn't catch a fish the trip was worth just that sighting!!!

7 weeks and counting. Still over 20 inches of snow up in our hunting area. It can stay there as far as I am concerned. The longer them bears have to stay in the den, the hungrier they will be when they climb out. Talked to the outfitter last week. They are currently setting up a few new lake access baits sites by using snow machines.

Actually a bit behind this year but catching up. The dogwoods have opened up and may be in bloom by the end of this week. May Apples are popping through. Probably will have to cut the grass this week too.

Talked to the outfitter again a few days ago. Still 8 inches of ice on the lakes. They have begun to bait the stands that are quad access. The lake baits are tough to get too as ice has disappeared from the shoreline so they can't get the snowmobiles or quads onto the ice. They saw their first bear out of hibernation this past weekend. They expect many of them to come out this week.
Hopefully in 3 weeks them bears are gonna be hungry!
