Good luck! It looks like its shaping up for a great opening day. Cold with fresh snow for many areas of Pa. Mostly rain here in the SW but good luck to any of you that are venturing out. Hopefully, we get a record kill this year.

I will be heading out to camp Rip-N-Tear tomorrow. Plan to be there at least until Tuesday. Lots of bear sign this year, but that may not mean much. Those bears tend to hide, and do it well. Menu for tomorrow night is going to be cheesburger meatloaf. Sunday will be SOS on biscuits. I hope Monday will be leftovers so I don't have to cook then.

We're supposed to head up to my buddy's camp near Ridgway to hunt with a medium sized group of guys. They usually get a bear or two every year but this may shape up to be a good year if there's still snow on the ground.I don't have a big desire to kill a bear but I like the anticipation of driving and hearing the shots ring out.

Snow is great until you have to push in it then it sucks.

Leaving for camp sometime later this morning. Good luck to all who are going out there in pursuit of the wily black bear.

He'd a behaved hisself, she might've let him sleep indoors over night, mutt? Predict with snow cover in much of bear country this year, there will be a marked improvement over last year's rainy opener kill? I'll be over at PGC/HQ Saturday evening, looking over what they bring in to the check station and annoying poor Chris Rosenberry, as usual.

Plans were to head up to South Renovo early this morning, then I woke up to just shy 12 inches of snow. Got the driveway all blown out by 8am , then went inside for breakfast, and called my buddy to see what time he would be ready, he bailed instead. Got in touch with my son to see how many were going to be at camp tonight, and the weekend. Two for tonight plus myself, and none for the weekend. Told him I didn't feel like opening up camp for just an overnight, especially when there was only gone tobe 3 of us. Waiting to hear back from him, but it looks like we may just drive up for tomorrows hunt then come back home. Mondays hunt is completely up in the air. Think I mentioned a while back I was not fond of the Saturday opener, seems to happen every year, but usually not this bad. Good luck to all.

Tomorrow might suck. Already talked to the Game Warden and he said I probably can't get into any of my favorite spots.

Once ol' Amos decides to idolize someone, he generally sticks with it forever. Consider yourself lucky, Doug.

Not sure why I'm even doing this tomorrow? I've survived a heart attack and a stroke. Why the hell do I need freezing cold and a foot of snow in my life?

Why the hell do I need freezing cold and a foot of snow in my life?Because that's a large part of the reason you survived, that's why.

I hunt the Hillsgrove area and normally see lots of bears in archery and turkey season but this year none, not much food. Even before the snow decided to pass on the bear hunt. I am 77 and know from past experiences that you can't walk far in 12" of snow and will get leg charlie horses and pain from lifting your feet that high. Good luck to all hunters.

I was in SGL 13 yesterday because it has better main road access. Tomorrow I'll hunt Hillsgrove and I hope those dirt roads and parking lots are open. I didn't even hear shooting yesterday.
