My daughter had an absess on her tonsils friday so I spent all night at the hospital and most of the morning. My wife relieved me around 11:00am because Jordan wanted to hunt.I got home but the there was a steady 20 mph wind and he was afraid he couldn't hack it for more than a couple hours.I told him to think about what he wanted to do and I went out to hunt turkeys.I was out less than an hour, found a flock and shot a young hen.I got back home and he decided that the wind was right to hunt a pretty remote spot that we each had a DMAP tag tag for and hadn't hunted yet.I had a small hangon at the top of this bench that he climbed into and I went a short distance away and climbed a tree with my climber.About a half hour before dark,a doe worked in below me but I had no desire to shoot a doe at that time.A few minutes later, all hell broke loose up near Jordan.I can see deer running all over the place near his stand. All of the sudden,I hear the tell tale thud of an arrow hitting hard and deer scattered all over the place.A big deer ran in my direction and just stood there, maybe 60 yards out.Not knowing if it was a buck or doe,I grunted a few times and it came in on a string. To my surprise,it was actually a huge doe.We were losing light and I figured my chance to kill a buck after all that was slim so I drilled her and watched her pile up about 50 yards away.Less than a minute later,a scrappy 6 point walked right past me but I had no desire to shoot it.I climbed down to meet Jordan and we couldn't find arrow or any sign of a hit.I make him use luminocks but the battery must have died. It's a good mile hike into this spot so we decided to just let both deer lay and come back in the morning.I heard the hit and he claimed the deer ran out of sight but was coughing.Sunday morning we brought a couple packs with us and hiked back up there. The doe I shot was laying right where I expected it to be and after a short search,we found Jordan's arrow covered in blood. He shot her right threw a heart and I'll bet that deer went 200 yards. This was a crazy archery season.Between hunting birds and horrible weather,we only made it out about 8 times but piled up 7 deer between the two of us.
