Saying it is going to get windy though ? But you know what ? If I lived there I would be out wondering around looking for deer being bedded down in cover? My favorite thing was to sneak along the ridges and look down over the edge into the grape vines ? There were lots of vines where I use to hunt .

In the words of the immortal W. C. Fields, "t'aint a fit night out for man nor beast." When the wind is blowing like this and the snow is flying sideways, it just isn't my favorite time to be out and about. It does rank a little above a cold rain, though.

I just walked in the door. I had to take Mugs out for a run, and did not wear a sock hat. Only a ball cap, and my ears darned near froze. Other than that minor annoyance, it wasn't all that bad. The temperature on the porch thermometer is 35, but wind chill factor must be well below that. Of course Mugs loved it.

Cluck......Cluck......Cluck......That sound you hear is me sitting here listing to the wind howl past my window. I was considering going out today......but my other option is to go down to "help" babysit my always delightful 14mo granddaughter. She is a true delight. Even when she's grumpy she's a better person than I am on my best day!!!

I stayed in a tree 'til 9:30 this AM. pretty cold and very windy. Watched a doe and fawn for about twenty minutes. They were super cautious as the moved between 2 patches of hemlocks. My brother saw nothing from the tree where he saw 18 deer yesterday morning. I think I'll get a little nap and do a little snooping around before an evening sit.

snow plow went thru with plow down about a half hour ago... We've got snow (2") but I think that was a bit much
Looks like I'll be putting chains on the tractors this week was hoping to get a good freeze for the ground

Judging by the number of wrecks in northern Potter and Tioga the past two days, some folks must've forgotten how to drive in snow and on ice? Although some were just passin' thru from warmer climes.

I really enjoyed my time hunting yesterday. 30 degrees, 20 mph winds. Had my windshear fleece jacket and a windshear vest on underneath. Long undies and windshear Berber fleece pants. Ah man, it was GREAT.
Had a spiker come up behind me, go around then on to a trail. At 25 yds, beoadside, I stopped him. Crosshairs were right there, and he doesn't know how lucky he was. Yesterday, he would have been a trophy for me, and a great memory. Still, a great memory watching him walk away.
Then all the memories of past buck encounters in that area came back.
Just a great day to be out there. Brother and I are going back out today in the snow to do some scouting

It's great way for an outdoorsman to spend a beautiful, brisk Sunday like this. I hope you and your brother have a great time, Dutch.

It's great way for an outdoorsman to spend a beautiful, brisk Sunday like this. I hope you and your brother have a great time, Dutch. We did. Great time to scout with a couple inches of snow. Went into a spot we generally necer go. Yup, a big one walked away from us. Found fresh tracks and a couple beds. Not a lot of deer, maybe just a doe and fawns, but, all things considered, that's pretty good. Found a spot for a ladder stand in another spot brother thought he wanted to sit. Another good day
