Looks like a good idea Dutch and I may have to come up with something like that in my basement. Was out last Sat. for a walkabout and to relocate my cam after the season, found the spot, but only one tree was available to mount the cam on and my strap was too short. Was thinking about get'n a longer strap but now that you showed this "thingy" I think I'll just make my own. Thanks for the idea! Muab

Might make it stand out like a sore thumb! I'm not worried about that so much. Where I want to put mine is in in a clearcut, with trees you can't mount a camera on. I can put this on the edge of a log trail, in the brush, and it won't be so easily seen. I have 2 very heavily used trails thru the cut that I'd like to watch.

You could make it and patent it. Then we both can go on shark tank together! You come up with the idea and I will be your support! ;D

I don't think those people on Shark Tank could even grasp the importance of such an invention. LOL

It could be put in brush where it would be less likely to be detected. "Course I had one smashed last July and it was in the middle of an eight year old cut that was thicker then...well you know. Bottom line is that on public land cams are usually on life support... Muab

Bear?
I don't have trouble with humans, my problem is bears "playing" with cameras.

Bear would mutilate that in a heart beat. They have even ruined cams of mine in bear boxs that were lag bolted to trees. Literally jammed their claws throw the windows of the box and shredded the cameras.
I hate bears....for real...

You are right. They mess with mine in bear boxes when they are on trees. They would just take a swipe at that mount and it would be toast.
Originally I was going to put a couple 4x4 posts in the ground. That might be the best option.
I think instead of 4x4's, I'm just going to find some straight, dead tree branches, 4 inches in diameter, and sink them in the ground. Plenty of ash around that comes down in storms, I should be able to find a couple that will work.
