Took Miss Annie out for pheasants last year but since we never trained for this she didn't catch on to what we were trying to hunt. This year was a whole new ball game for her. Saturday morning we started out walking down the dirt road and here were 5 pheasants walking around the cut corn field. She saw them and gave chase, one bird flew in my direction and after a great passing shot the bird landed on the other side of a small creek. Miss Annie didn't see the bird fall so I got her lined up and gave the Fetch command. On the other side of the creek she paused and looked back, gave the Back command and off she went and disappeared into the thick weeds. I waited a short time and here she comes with the bird! Now she understood what we were hunting. It was great to watch her figure it all out. Is there anything a Lab can't do? Miss Annie has now added pheasants to her list of accomplishments.

There's nothing......nothing like hunting over a good dog!!! Having a good dog makes the world of hunting a much better place. Congratulatins on Miss Annie's work. Just remember that a dog's love for you is the only truly unconditional love you are ever likely to get. Appreciate that love, enjoy it, and give it back.

It's neat to watch them start to figure it all out. We've hit the birds hard the last three weekends and it surprised me how many labs are out there hunting pheasants. Some appeared to be extremely well fed to the point that they looked like they were gonna drop over. They all seemed happy to be out there though.

That's a true statement Mutt. The only thing better is watching your kid behind his dog.
