I was leafing thru a Cabela's flyer I got recently and noticed.....I think it was.....2 pages of new crossbows that were priced around $500. Some were even less. These were brand name crossbows.
I just found it interesting in that this is the first time I can recall getting a sale flyer with crossbows not costing $1,000 and up. I know I paid like $500 for my (now out of business) Horton Havoc. I think I got that crossbow 5 years ago. I replaced the string & cables last year and it's still a fine shooting crossbow.
FWIW

Being involved in the crossbow scene, I can tell you the meat and bones of the crossbow market is bows at that $500 price point. The expensive bows are nice, but most people opt for bows at the lower price point.
Poe Lang Chinese made bows are increasingly taking market share. It is tough for an American crossbow manufacturer to bring a bow to market at less than $500. Talking with one manufacturer a few weeks ago, the are hoping the Trump tariffs will have an effect on cheap Chinese imported bows.
