I have had one since they first came out. Doesn't seem to scare game. Turn it on and within 5 min. no more bugs. Yes it is worth it. I hunt along a river and it works great. I have a table model for the patio that is just as effective. About a 15 ft circle.

Purchase the canvas case also, will hold extra fuel and pads, about $9.00. Pig wallow and Sabine River I hunt at. Lots of bugs. Attachments:

I concur with the others. The Thermocell is basically a small propane like heater (yes....with small propane like fuel tank) that heats up a burner. No flame....just a hot glow. Then there's a small "rack" on the unit where you slide in these blue pads. The heat gets these blue pads emitting the stuff that keeps away bugs.
It's a great product and I would advise anyone who bow hunts in the warmer weather to have one. Look.....if a big buck sees you swatting at a skeeter when said buck is 70 yards away.....you know that buck isn't going your way. And if the bugs don't bug you......no swatting......chance for deer to come close!!

I would pay several hundred dollars for one if that is what they cost. They work amazingly well. In Canada this June on a bear hunt, hordes of mosquitoes would disappear once I turned on my Thermacell.

In Canada this June on a bear hunt, hordes of mosquitoes would disappear once I turned on my Thermacell. I could understand that. With the amount of bugs up there sometimes money is secondary to just plain old comfort!!
