Jordan and I had to abandon our early morning plans because the wind was about as bad as you can have for the spot we planned on hunting. We made a last minute change and hit two stands that were about 50 yards apart. It's not a bad morning spot but we got in way too late for my tastes. It was a nice morning and other than watching squirrels,it seemed kinda slow. All of the sudden I see a streak of yellow, hear a dull thud and deer busting out all over the place.I texted Jordan and he claimed to have made a perfect hit on a big doe at about 15 yards.I waited a while before climbing down. His arrow was stuck in a small rotten log covered in blood. After discussing the hit and looking at the arrow,we decided to go find her. This was a good lesson learned for him.As it turns out,the deer was slighlty quartering to him.We had fair blood from the tiny slick trick, viper trick for about 60 yards and then lost it in some pretty thick brush. We picked it up again but the deer actually cut back and went downhill instead of going into the autumn olive like I expected.Fifty yards later, there she lay.It was a single lung hit that went through the liver and exited low in the guts.I imposed a one deer a day limit unless it's a good buck and we both passed on easy shots at doe in the afternoon.Jordan say a good buck but it was about 40 yards away.I'll try to post a picture but I haven';t figured out this new computer. I'd like to take credit but I had no dog in the fight other than driving him there and dragging it out.that set was his idea and I argued with him because I didn't think we'd have to to get back in there. We lost the blood and he kept telling me he thought she went down hill because two fawns were down there looking in that direction. We checked it out, found blood and found the deer.I honestly would have went into the tick autumn olive.
