I hate to police up my brass when I shoot my 1911. Primarily because I have to bend over to pick it up....and bending over or even worse, kneeling down is physically difficult and sometimes painful. I have a brass catcher for my A\R-15 and it works great!! Caldwell A\R brass catcher
So, necessity being the mama of invention, I decided to attempt to make my own catcher for my 1911. I took the old plastic slab-side grips and on the right side, I drilled two holes to accept .060 wire. I then bent the wire so it would clear the slide, and (hopefully) be in the correct position to catch brass. I had some nylon small mesh I cut from a drawstring bag and cut it, weaved it on the wire, then glued a few sections.
Anyway.....here's the result. Now.....if only it pass's the torture test of actual use!!!
