I've always wanted a side-by-side or over and under shotgun for small game and bird hunting. I also don't want to break the bank. ;D Any recommendations? Been looking at the Stoeger lineup and they have a few in the $500 range.

CZ has some economical ones that have caught my eye... heard great reviews too. cz-usa.com/products/by-category/over-under/The Mallard has a $566 MSRP, so I'm betting you can find all of these for $100 less than MSRP out there. You may lose the ejectors and some other things though...

Go ahead and break the bank. Buy a Beretta Silver Pigeon V. The nicest gun I have ever owned.

For the amount of bird and small game hunting I do anymore I can't justify breaking the bank. LOL

Plus, is there even a bank to break?

It's not a over and under or double barrel but the short barreled mossberg turkey gun is great for grouse. With the light weight and short barrel it's easy to swing in thickets and get off quick shots. The chokes are what turns it into a turkey or grouse gun.

I have an ugly Mossberg pump, with a couple chokes, 12 guage no less. I'm not sure when I hunt with my brother and his snotty little 28 guage, if my brother even wants to be seen with me. LOL

If I had one of those CZ Upland Ultralites, I'd at least look good in the woods.

I always hated sxs's until I won a CZ bobwhite at a ruffed grouse society banquet. It's my favorite shotgun bay a huge margin.

Hard to beat CZ quality for the price. I have a CZ97B(45ACP), CZ550FS(6.5 Swede) and a CZ 452(22LR). All have more than met my expectations!!
A CZ scatter gun is next on my list.

I sponsor a ruffed grouse society banquet every year and get a 1 in 6 chance of winning one of two nice guns.I hit two years ago but wasn't able to go so my buddy picked that for me.I was kinda bummed because I never liked SxS's.However,I was pleasantly surprised the first time I shot it.It fits me perfect and is an absolute pleasure to carry around. It's not a bad looking gun either.

Well currently I use an old H&R single shot 12 gauge for my small game hunting so pretty much anything would be an upgrade even though I love that gun. I've never been a fan of the pumps or semi-auto's. I'll definitely take a look at the CZ lineup. I'm not much of a gun nut and have always figured a shotgun, deer rifle, and a .22 were all I need. I still think that way. This is just something I always wanted.

LOL Now that your brother has a new puppy, you will need prove your worth. That ugly Mossberg might not work. Better upgrade if you want to get invited. Looks and image are Everything ;D

I remember a few years back, when I was hunting ditch chickens at the Fish hatchery property in Oswayo I missed a real easy shot on a ringneck. Some other hunter was watching me and he walked over and he said,"Fancy Gun, Fancy Dog, Fancy Vest" but you shoot like crap. Never did like my dad after that comment
