I usually carry a shotgun but last year I took my 25-06 with because most of the time when I see them they are at a distance.

Since both firearms are legal in the fall season, I won't criticize anyone's choice. Anyone hunting out of our camp has always been encouraged to develop their calling technique and/or hunt with someone with some experience in order to bring the birds into shotgun range. This isn't to say that there haven't been times when we might have wished for a rifle... ...then again, there's little that brings more thrill to many hunters, myself included, than calling game into range!

YUP...plus sometimes carrying just a rifle offers even more challenges vs a shotgun pending conditions and viseaversa..!

I enjoy the challenge of calling the birds within shotgun range. My choice of firearm is a Benelli M1 or my Remington Model 10.
