In the last 10 years i have have bought 10 to 12 pairs of new boots. Some low priced and some high priced ? I can not find any that i like to replace the pair i had or have. Why is this ? Well i hate the ankle rubbing ones that they sell . The uppers are so stiff and rub my ankles and or the back of my legs . I have bought the brand as i have and get them home and try them for a few days. Only to find out they have changed the way they are stitched together and there is a big seam inside of the boot. This always seems to be right where your ankle bone is !!!!!! Or the uppers are so stiff it is like your legs are in a pipe ! I was luck that where i worked gave us money to buy new boots each year . All the ones i didn't like i gave to my son ! He told me he doesn't want any more boots. He will never use the ones he has now. My other son has smaller feet so he can't use them and my grandson wears a size 14 or bigger ! I know i am a cry baby but where did the quality of boots go ?

Actually, boots are much better today than they were when I started wearing them over 60 years ago, willy. Gore tex keeps my feet dry. Thinsulate keeps them warm. Merino wool sox are the best. I have a pair of Rockys that I will have to replace in a year or so. The Irish Setters are worn out, but still comfortable so I use them for work boots. Cheap ones usually let me down in some way, and I have had nothing but bad luck with Timberland. Dave likes Carolina Loggers. I guess I learned a lot about boots back when I was doing a lot of backpacking. My feet must have gotten tougher because I never get a blister. Or maybe I just learned how to walk in boots? One pair of boots I have that I probably will never wear again is a pair of Mendel Alaska Hikers (?name?). They were just the ticket for a sheep hunt, but not for Pennsylvania hills, so they sit in the closet. Stiff? You betcha, but stiff is what you want when you are climbing a talus slope and hopping rocks on the top.

I gotta get a new pair for this fall. The last one's I bot wore like Iron. I look for the highest weight I can find with at least 600 or better Thinsulate. Gortex is a must.

I hate to correct a highly esteemed teacher.Actually I take great pleasure in doing so lol.The correct spelling would be Meindl and Mutt would be correct, they're the cat's arse.

I have had a pair of Danners for 4 or five years that are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn for construction work or hiking and hunting when I plan on walking around. In archery season I wear high rubber LaCrosse boots.

I buy wolverine mauraders for work. Get about 6 months out of them. As far as hunting I like Irish Setters with Gortex. I've got an old pair of extreme cold Rockies that are still waterproof 18 years later.

My problem is size, width to be exact. Due to bunions on both feet, right the worse, I like a 4E, very few brands in that width available. I also like them light, under 3 pounds, insulated and gore-tex. Still looking.
