There doesn't seem to be many wild mushroom fans on the site, but some might want to have a go at it. I posted about finding black trumpets a while ago and Yesterday I found a bunch of oyster mushrooms.
If you like wild mushrooms, it's a pretty good time to do some looking around. Chicken, chants, oysters and black trumpets can be found now. I'm not crazy about chicken mushrooms but the other three are really good.

Well, there aren't many ACTIVE participants on this site in general. The chance of the few active posters also being foragers is sorta slim, as foraging is kind of an outdated art ?
That said, I would much rather hunt wild edibles, than anything with 4 legs or wings. Was never much of a "hunter" of meat in the first place, even though I've been doing it for over 4 decades.
July is a hot time to be traveling the forests "in search of". It's all I can muster, to pick the wild berries as they ripen in the heat.

Chicken mushrooms.......taste like chicken. Just go to the grocery and buy chicken. No need to expose yourself to poison Ivy.

I have fond memories of picking raspberrys that spread along an abandoned dirt road. The farmers wife made pies for us if I would pick them. She was feeding a family of 6 plus the hired hand(me).

My ol' departed Ma, made the best damned pie crust EVER. I would give her the berries, and she would make a berry pie. My wife doesn't make homemade pie crust. Any berries I pick now, the family eats in bowls of milk and sugar. I can't do that. I need me a pie.
Truth be told. There are some pretty decent pie crusts sold out there today. Some fairly comparable to homemade.... but not quite.

My wife makes great pie crust. My wife has picked more than 7 gallons of blueberries from our plants and there are more coming on. The pies are good but I'd rather have blueberry cobbler and save her pie making for lemon and pumpkin.
When the mushrooms are popping you gotta get an early start to beat the heat-and early morning is the best time of day yo get things done anyway. Some of the wild mushrooms are my favorite foods that come from the wild.
