It's been a tough year getting him out with the weather early on and baseball.I woke up to wind and rain saturday morning so I crawled back in bed.My plan was to head out after 9:00 am once the weather broke but the kid wasn't really up to it.I told him this was the best time to go.We may not hear much but if we struck one up,he's most likely die.I could tell he didn't have much confidence in the old man but he grabbed his stuff anyway and we went out.Around 11:30,we struck up a pair of longbeards and they were on their way.I went around the corner to set up and call in case they hung up out of range. The stopped gobbling as they often do and I saw Jordan bear down and heard the click of his safety.Boom! He flattened him at 40 yards.I should have set up next to him and we would have had a double but I was afraid they'd only come in so far if sat there.Nice bird with a thin 9.5" beard and 1 1/4" spurs.

Nice bird and a great pic. Congrats to Jordan. Please never let Jordan meet my boy. Id hate for him to relate his success stories, and what a fantastic mentor he has. LOL Oh and, I DO feel a little dirty responding to your thread, seein's how cspout called out that "bromance" thingy we apparently have going on, in that other thread.

Man, look at that grin. Congrats to the hunter and kudos to the guy who is doing his part, to bring along another generation of huntin' addicts. Too damn bad there aren't hundreds of thousands more like him.

Way to go Jordan!! Nice bird there!!
I only got out 3 days in first week. Had gobblin 2 days plus on last day had one out at 80 plus yards but was with 2 hens. Gobbled back several times but kept his distance. Just couldn't carve time to get back up to camp due to alot of home stuff going on. My guess 2 & 3rd weeks woulda been prime. Oh well...hoping next year to spend more time chasin them!! Really fun just getting out there!!
