_My brother and I planned to take a few days off to do some turkey hunting and decided to split our vacation up over the second and third weeks. The tenth was the first day doe us. At 505 am. the first gobble was heard and at 530 my brother squeezed the trigger on the first bird of the season that happened to be his biggest spurred bird ever. 16.82 lbs, 9.25" beard and 1 3/8" spurs. A great northern Potter bird. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedThen satSatur was my turn in the same spot and the first gonna rings out at 505 am. And at 540 and 30 gobbles later I put one in the dirt 12 feet from where my brothers bird dropped. 19.84 lbs, 9" beard and 1 1/16" spurs. Attachment DeletedWe worked birds every morning at all hours. Then after a a two hour battle and loss to a group of 4 longbeards I left Potter and headed for New York for a try. Snuck out on a ridge and with a thunderstorm getting ready to dump and a crack of thunder a gobbler sounded off just once. With rain now pouring down I set up know I had one in earshot I set up and called and waited and watched and 20 min later he was standing in front of me looking and the little 20 gauge dumped him. At 910 am. 22.11 lbs, 10.25" beard and 1 1/8" spurs. Attachment DeletedHave 4 more days to hunt the rest of the season and a tag in each state so we will see whatbhappens.

Yeah. Thats a good couple of good days right there. Things are really tailing off down here. By the looks of the foliage up there, should be prime time for you right now.

Yeah I think the next week or so will get even better. The little bit of warm almost hot humid air we got Tuesday mid morning and late morning Monday really them up. And the black flys hot really bad. But something we ran into more this year was bands of gay longbeards. They stand and gobble on a wooded flat spot or field edge where you can see them a 150 yds away without coming to you. Then when you make a move to within 60 or 70 yds they go the other way with their boyfriends gobbling at your hen calls. Just sometimes nothing works. But they are there and we got this Saturday and 3 days over the holiday to get back at them. And there is hardly a hunter out there. Seen one other hunter and he wasn't even in the woods. He was road hunting.
